Pakistani Actress Humaira Asghar Ali Likely Died Nine Months Before Her Body Was Found

Pakistani actor Humaira Asghar Ali, whose decomposed body was found recently in Karachi, is believed to have died nine months ago in October 2024, according to police and forensic officials.

The tragic and mysterious death of Pakistani television and film actress Humaira Asghar Ali has sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. Though her body was only discovered earlier this week, in July 2025, disturbing new findings suggest that the actor may have died as far back as October 2024.

According to a report by Arab News, Humaira's body was found in an "advanced stage of decomposition" inside her locked apartment in Karachi. The discovery was made after her landlord filed a complaint over pending rent, prompting police to forcibly enter the premises.

Humaira Asghar Ali likely passed away nine months ago

Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, who conducted the autopsy, confirmed the extent of decomposition to Arab News, while investigators now estimate that Humaira likely passed away nearly nine months ago.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Syed Asad Raza, was quoted as saying, “As per Call Detail Record (CDR) the last call was made in October 2024.” Neighbours too last recalled seeing her around September or October that year.

Electricity supply to her apartment was cut off in October

Authorities noted that the electricity supply to her apartment was cut off in October due to unpaid bills. “Humaira's body is likely nine months old. She probably died between paying her last utility bills and when her electricity was disconnected in October 2024, probably due to non-payment of the bill,” an official stated, adding that no backup power or even candles were found in the house.

The inside of the apartment painted a grim picture. One official observed that food items had been rotting for months. “The jars had rusted, and food had expired six months ago,” they told Arab News.

Given the fact that the only other flat on her floor was vacant, neighbours failed to detect any foul smell. By the time some returned to the building in February, any strong odour had already dissipated. Police also discovered that one of her balcony doors was ajar, and the plumbing showed signs of complete disuse — with rusted pipes and no running water.

Humaira's brother took custody of the body

In an earlier statement, the police had revealed that Humaira’s family initially refused to claim her remains. However, her brother Naveed Asghar has now reached Karachi and taken custody of the body. Due to the extreme state of decomposition, DNA testing was required to confirm her identity.

“We have come here and after fulfilling all the legal requirements, have received the dead body,” Naveed told reporters.

Speaking further, he shared that Humaira had relocated from Lahore to Karachi around seven years ago and had gradually drifted away from her family. She had not visited them for over a year and a half. “That is why my father said that if there is any emergency, then you can bury her there [in Karachi],” he said, explaining the family’s earlier hesitation. He also raised concerns about whether the landlord had been questioned, stating, “Whatever matters took place with the landlord, did any of you interview him?”
