Netflix Drops First 6 Minutes Of Squid Game 3 And Gi Hun’s Return Is Darker Than Ever
Netflix has unveiled the intense first six minutes of Squid Game Season 3, showing a shattered Gi Hun begging to be killed as the deadly games return for one final, brutal chapter.

The countdown to 'Squid Game Season 3' has officially begun, and Netflix is raising the stakes. Just days ahead of its release on June 27, the streamer has dropped the first six minutes of the new season and it wastes no time plunging viewers straight into the chaos.
What happens in the first six minutes of Squid Game Season 3
Directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk, the upcoming chapter will be the final installment of the global phenomenon. The show picks up exactly where it left off, but with a haunting twist. Red-suited guards walk in carrying a familiar black coffin typically a symbol of a player's death. But instead of a lifeless body, inside lies Seong Gi Hun, aka Player 456, alive but visibly shattered.
As shocked faces around him look on, it becomes clear that Gi Hun’s return has already come at a massive cost. "Because of your actions, 35 players have died," a voice tells him, revealing that only 60 contestants remain. The emotional weight hits Gi Hun like a tidal wave. Desperate and guilt-ridden, he lashes out at the guards.
“Why did you not kill me?” he screams. “Why… why did you leave me?”
In a moment of anguish, he snatches a gun and yells, “Shoot me! Kill me too!” But instead of pulling the trigger, the guard coldly announces an increase in prize money.
Elsewhere, a search squad intensifies its hunt for the island as disappearances mount, hinting that Jun Ho is on the verge of tracking down In Ho. Meanwhile, the Front Man watches it all from a distance, sipping his drink and smirking — more puppet master than participant.
Lee Jung Jae speaks about the scene of Squid Game Season 3
Speaking about filming this pivotal scene, actor Lee Jung Jae, who plays Gi Hun, shared that it felt like stepping into an entirely different world.
“He has to go back to the competition, play the game again, and make choices again,” he said, pointing to his character’s emotional conflict.
But this season isn’t just about survival. According to director Hwang Dong Hyuk, the Front Man’s decision to spare Gi Hun is far from merciful.
“For Front Man, sending Gi Hun back to the game, rather than killing him—makes sense. He wants Gi Hun to really feel and understand the heavy price of his own mistakes,” Hwang explained.
“Front Man wants Gi Hun to be driven to a state where he will finally give up his faith in humanity, and even his faith in himself.”
Lee Byung Hun, who plays the enigmatic Front Man, echoed the same sentiment. “Front Man wants to dismantle the noble belief Gi Hun holds onto. He believes that, eventually, Gi Hun will change too,” he said.
Both characters are past winners of the deadly game - but while Gi Hun still clings to hope, the Front Man sees humanity as irredeemable.
The creators have promised that Season 3 will be the show’s most emotionally devastating and dangerous yet.
