Rhea Chakraborty shared a post on social media to extend support to pop star Britney Spears after she opened up about her conservatorship that has governed her life since the last 13 years.

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty extended support to Pop star Britney Spears, who opened up about her ‘abusive’ conservatorship at a court hearing in Los Angeles. The singer requested the judge to end the conservatorship that has governed her life since the past 13 years and said that she wanted to ‘sue’ her ‘family’.

Rhea, who remained in headlines after her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, came out in Spears’ support on social media. She shared a post on her Instagram story and supported the ‘Free Britney’ movement, which stemmed from the singer’s conservatorship.

What Did Britney Spears Say During Court Hearing?

The ’Princess of Pop’ told Judge Brenda Penny that she wanted to ‘scale back’ her therapy appointments. She added that wanted the ‘freedom to get married’ and ‘have her own baby’.

The Grammy Award-winning artist said that she wanted to ‘sue’ her ‘family’ because of the way they treated her. She said that her ‘ignorant father’ and other people, who are involved in the conservatorship ‘should be put in prison’, a report in IANS said.

"I shouldn't be in a conservatorship if I can work and provide money for myself and pay other people. The laws should change," Variety quoted Britney as saying.

The 39-year-old also said that the conservatorship prevents her from tying the knot or having a child.

Last week, Rhea Chakraborty penned an emotional note on the first death anniversary of Sushant Singh Rajput on Instagram. She shared a photo with the 'Dil Bechara' actor along with a note that read, "There isn’t a moment where I believe that you aren’t here anymore. They said that time heals everything but you were my time and my everything. I know that you are my guardian angel now -watching me with your telescope from the moon and protecting me."

The Narcotic Control Bureau, which is investigating the drugs angle in Sushant’s death case, had arrested Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty in September 2020. The Bombay High Court granted bail to Rhea on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh in October. She walked out of Mumbai’s Byculla jail after staying behind the bars for 28 days.

On the professional front, Rhea will be next seen in ‘Chehre’. The movie, which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles, was slated to hit the silver screens in April 2021. The makers postponed the release in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19 in India.
