Did You Know Neena Gupta's Co-Star Offered To Marry Her When She Was Pregnant With Daughter Masaba?

Neena Gupta's close friend offered to marry the actress when she was expecting daughter Masaba Gupta.

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actress Neena Gupta, who recently released her memoir ‘Sach Kaun Toh’, revealed that her friend Satish Kaushik offered to marry her when she was expecting her daughter Masaba Gupta out of wedlock. The ‘Badhaai Ho’ actress became pregnant when she was in a relationship with West Indies cricketer Sir Viv Richards in 1980s. In her autobiography, Neena said that many people came up with marriage proposals following her pregnancy. 

When Neena Gupta 'Politely Refused' Satish Kaushik's Offer 

She added that her close friend Satish Kaushik was ready to marry her and he asked her to tell others that Masaba is his daughter.  

“Don’t worry, if the child is born with dark skin, you can just say it’s mine and we’ll get married. Nobody will suspect a thing,” Kaushik told Gupta, as quoted by Indian Express.  

Neena wrote in her book that she was touched by Satish’s gesture but she declined his offer. The duo has worked in movies like ‘Mandi’, ‘Utsav’ and ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’.  

Neena, who won the Filmfare Best Actress (Critics) award for ‘Badhaai Ho’, raised Masaba as a single mother. Netflix aired a show based on the life of Masaba Gupta, which also starred Neena, who played herself in ‘Masaba Masaba’. The streaming giant has renewed the show for a second season.  

Neena Gupta’s Marriage Was Called Off Before The D-Day 

The ‘Saans’ actress was all set to tie the knot with a man she loved. However, he decided to end their relationship at the last minute. In her book, Neena recalled the event and said that he ended their relationship when she went to Delhi to get her clothes for their wedding.  Gupta further said that she had immense respect for their parents and she also lived in their house.

Neena got married to Vivek Mehra in an intimate ceremony in the USA in 2008. The couple spent quality time with each other during the COVID-induced lockdown in Mukteshwar. 

On the professional front, Neena Gupta was recently seen in Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh starrer ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’. The film premiered on Netflix on May 18, 2021.
