Don 3 Confirmed: Farhan Akhtar Is Finishing Script For Shah Rukh Khan-Starrer
The third edition of action thriller ‘Don' starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan has received some major updates from producer Ritesh Sidhwani.
New Delhi: After a long wait of 12 years, fans of the action genre are eager to see Don return to the big screen. ‘Don 3’ has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now. The first 'Don' film featured Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, and the sequel came out in 2011. Now, the third edition of the action thriller ‘Don’, starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has received some major updates from producer Ritesh Sidhwani. It has been said that the screenplay of ‘Don 3’ has been in the works for the last three to four years.
Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and Excel Entertainment head Ritesh Sidhwani remade the 1978 film starring Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan for the film series.
Recently, Ritesh Sidhwani revealed some details about ‘Don 3’. PTI quoted Ritesh saying, "Till my partner (Farhan Akhtar) finishes writing it, we won’t do anything. Right now, he is in the phase of completing the script. Even all of us are eagerly waiting to see Don.”
In 2011, a sequel to Don, titled ‘Don 2: The King Is Back’ was released. According to IMDb trivia, Farhan was inspired to write the script for the film after reading a fan hypothesis posted online. Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor also appeared in the movie.
A third installment, ‘Don: The Final Chapter’ is reportedly the series' finale. Given their respective backstories, the pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Ritesh Sidhwani is now promoting his newest OTT web series by Excel Entertainment's ‘Dahaad’. Set in a peaceful hamlet in Rajasthan, the drama is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi and follows the investigation of multiple women's brutal murder cases. Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhaati played by Sonakshi Singha is joined by co-stars Sohum Shah, Gulshan Devaiah, and Vijay Varma.
