Box Office Battle: 'Street Dancer 3D' Continues To LEAD, 'Panga' Slows Down On Day 4

'Street Dancer 3D' and 'Panga' have witnessed a drop in their earnings on day four at the box office.

New Delhi: 2020 is the year of clashes in Bollywood. The year started with the big box office clash between Ajay Devgn’s ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chhapaak’ as both the films hit the silver screens on January 10. Last week saw the release of Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Panga’ and Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Street Dancer 3D’. ‘Panga’ was critically acclaimed while ‘Street Dancer 3D’ got mixed reviews from the critics. Despite the rave reviews, ‘Panga’ couldn’t set the box office on fire. The sports drama, which started on a slow note, could only collect Rs 1.65 on its fourth day. Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office collection of ‘Panga’ on Twitter. “#Panga dips on Day 4... Was important to hold at Day 1 levels for a respectable Week 1 total... Unable to improve its BO prospects beyond select metros... Weak in mass circuits... Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 5.61 cr, Sun 6.60 cr, Mon 1.65 cr. Total: ₹ 16.56 cr. #India biz,” Adarsh tweeted. ‘Street Dancer 3D’, which started off well, also witnessed a dip on Monday. The dance film minted Rs 4.65 crore to take the total collection to 45.88 crore. #StreetDancer3D slips on Day 4... Decent hold in mass belt/single screens... Metros/multiplexes go downhill... Trending much lower than #ABCD2 [2015]... Fri 10.26 cr, Sat 13.21 cr, Sun 17.76 cr, Mon 4.65 cr. Total: ₹ 45.88 cr. #India biz,” Adarsh wrote on the micro-blogging site. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Panga’ focused on the story of a forgotten Kabaddi champion. The movie co-starring Jassie Gill, Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha talked about a mother’s aspiration and narrated the tale of Jaya’s struggle and comeback to the game post marriage and motherhood. ‘Street Dancer 3D’ is the story of two rival dance groups from India and Pakistan, who compete against each other every time they meet. The Remo D'Souza directorial is set against the backdrop of a global dance competition and also features Nora Fatehi, Prabhu Deva, Aparshakti Khurana, Punit Pathak, Raghav Juyal and Dharmesh Yelande in key roles.
