'Panga' Vs 'Street Dancer' FIRST Week Box Office Report: Varun-Shraddha Starrer BEATS Kangana's Film

'Panga' and 'Street Dancer' have completed a week of their release. Here's how the two films performed in first week!

New Delhi: Two of the most-awaited films of 2020, ‘Panga’ and ‘Street Dancer 3D’, hit the silver screens on January 24, 2020. The two movies, belonging to different genres, have completed a week of release. Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Panga’, which received good reviews from the critics, couldn’t set the box office on fire. The sports drama underperformed despite appealing to the family audience. ‘Panga’, which has been directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, minted Rs 21.36 crore in its first week. Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first week box office collection of ‘Panga’ on Twitter. #Panga is underwhelming in Week 1... Unable to score beyond metros, despite family-friendly theme... Miraculous growth in Weekend 2 essential... Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 5.61 cr, Sun 6.60 cr, Mon 1.65 cr, Tue 1.65 cr, Wed 1.62 cr, Thu 1.53 cr. Total: ₹ 21.36 cr. #India biz,”Adarsh wrote on the micro-blogging site. Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Street Dancer 3D’ is leading over ‘Panga’ with a good margin. However, the film couldn’t re-create the magic of ‘ABCD 2’. The Remo D’Souza directorial minted a total of Rs 56.77 crore in its first week. “#StreetDancer3D lacks the spark in Week 1... Non-happening at multiplexes... Healthy in single screens... Lower than #ABCD2 in Week 1 [₹ 71.78 cr]... Fri 10.26 cr, Sat 13.21 cr, Sun 17.76 cr, Mon 4.65 cr, Tue 3.88 cr, Wed 3.58 cr, Thu 3.43 cr. Total: ₹ 56.77 cr. #India biz,” Taran Adarsh tweeted. ‘Panga’ co-starring Jassie Gill, Neena Gupta and Richa Chadha focused on the story of a forgotten Kabaddi champion. The movie narrated the tale of Jaya’s struggle and comeback to the game post marriage and motherhood. ‘Street Dancer 3D’ is set against the backdrop of a global dance competition. The film co-starring Nora Fatehi, Prabhu Deva, Aparshakti Khurana, Punit Pathak, Raghav Juyal and Dharmesh Yelande is the story of two rival dance groups from India and Pakistan, who compete against each other every time they meet. It remains to be seen if the two films will be able to pick up pace in the second week or not. Stay tuned for more updates!
