Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan is one of the finest artists of the film industry. The megastar has been excelling in many fields apart from acting. Regarded as one of the most influential personalities of the country, Big B is also a television host and an occasional playback singer.

Ruling the film industry for over five decades, Amitabh Bachchan is also popularly known as the ‘angry young man’ of Bollywood. He has appeared in more than 200 films in his career and has been accoladed with several awards including the ‘Padma Shri’, ‘Padma Bhushan’, ‘Dadasaheb Phalke Award’, ‘National Award’ and various other international awards. With such an exceptional career, Bachchan also appeared in the Hollywood film ‘The Great Gatsby’.

Amitabh Bachchan became popular as the ‘angry young man’ for his roles in movies like ‘Namak Haraam’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Shahenshah’, ‘Deewar’ to name a few. Born to poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Big B set off his foot in Bollywood with the 1969 movie ‘Bhuvan Shome’ where he was a voice narrator. He made his acting debut the same year with ‘Saat Hindustani’.

Bachchan gained popularity in the early 70s with movies like ‘Sholay’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Deewar’ and many others. He established himself as one of the most successful actors of that time and also broke the stereotypical romantic image of mainstream Bollywood heroes. Rajesh Khanna, who was the highest-paid and successful actors of that time, was popular for his romantic and flamboyant image on-screen. But after Big B delivered some of the best action movies in the early 70s, the audience became more engaged towards such kinds of movies. The viewers fell in love with Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘angry young man’ avatar and the rest is history.

Amitabh Bachchan is considered the ‘Shahenshah’ of Bollywood. Till today, the 78-year-old actor continues to entertain his fans and the audience as he delivers powerful and influential performances on-screen.

Big B will be next seen featuring in ‘Chehre’, ‘Brahmastra’, ‘Mayday’ and ‘Jhund’. He will also be seen hosting the popular television reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 13’.
