Actor Govinda Tests COVID-19 Positive; Says ‘Tested Positive With Mild Symptoms’

Govinda informed about him testing positive for COVID-19 while speaking to IANS and said that he is currently under home quarantine. Read on to know full details.

New Delhi: Famous Bollywood actor Govinda has tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier today, Akshay Kumar also tested positive for the virus and he took to his social media to inform that he has quarantined himself.

Confirming the news to ABP News, Govinda's son Yashvardan Ahuja revealed that his father has tested positive for coronavirus and there is nothing to worry about him. 

Govinda's wife Sunita also contracted the virus 2 weeks back, but she has tested negative and is completely cured. Yashvardan also told ABP News that his 74-year old grandmother (Sunita's mother and Govinda's mother-in-law) has also tested positive for COVID-19 and her condition is worrisome. 

Talking to ABP News, Govinda's secretary for the last 35 years, Shashi Sinha said, "Govinda was feeling weak and was sensing the loss of taste since the past few days. So, he got himself tested and the report came in as positive today."

Govinda also revealed in a statement to IANS, “I have been testing myself and taking all the necessary precautions to keep the coronavirus away. However, I tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative. Sunita (wife) has just recovered from Covid-19 a couple of weeks back.”

“I am under home quarantine and under able medical guidance. I request everyone to please follow all the necessary precautions and please take care”, he further added.

Govinda tested positive on Sunday morning and urged everyone who came in contact with him recently to get themselves tested for the same.

Earlier today, Akshay Kumar revealed in a statement, "I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself. I'm under home quarantine and have sought necessary medical care. I would sincerely request all those that have come in contact with me to get themselves tested and take care. Back in action very soon!"

Meanwhile, other than Govinda and Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Bappi Lahiri, Paresh Rawal, Aamir Khan and many other celebrities have contracted COVID-19.
