BTS Suga Completes Military Service Silently, Says ‘I’m Back’ In Emotional Letter To ARMYs

Suga is the last BTS member to finish mandatory military service, officially ending the group’s enlistment break.

BTS ARMY rejoice as Min Yoongi, aka Suga, is officially back! The final member of the Grammy-nominated group has completed his mandatory military service and marked the moment with a heartfelt message to fans on Weverse. Unlike his fellow BTS members, RM, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, Suga opted for a quiet exit with no ceremony, no press, and no photos from the military base.

Suga completed his service as a social service agent due to past health issues, including shoulder and ear surgeries, which made him unfit for active combat duty. He officially enlisted on September 22, 2023, and wrapped up duties on June 21, 2025, using his remaining leave days to finish slightly earlier. His role placed him outside the military headquarters, hence the absence of any formal discharge visuals.

Suga Pens First Letter To ARMYs

Hours after his discharge, Suga penned a moving note to ARMYs, expressing gratitude and introspection.

“Hello, everyone. Nice to meet you. It’s a SUGA. It’s been about two years. How have you all been? It’s been a long time since I was called off today... I really missed you,” he wrote.

“I think I had two years to think about myself… this time has been an opportunity to look back on myself.”

While fans had long anticipated Suga’s return, the quiet discharge caught many by surprise. But the excitement didn’t stop there, Suga is also expected to make his first live appearance as a civilian from the HYBE office via a live session. Though the exact time is under wraps, fans are eagerly keeping their eyes peeled.

Hashtags like #SugaIsBack and #YoongiWelcomeBack began trending globally. Fans even organised a special project outside the HYBE headquarters, adding to the festive atmosphere as the countdown to the eventual full BTS reunion begins.
