Kapil Sharma Recalls Working In A Mill When He Was 14 For Rs 900 A Month

Kapil said that he began working when he was pretty young. Kapil mentioned his initial job was at an STD/PCO booth.

New Delhi: The comedian-turned-actor Kapil Sharma is currently promoting, Zwigato, a film directed by Nandita Das. The film released in theatres today in which he portrayed a food delivery guy struggling to make ends meet. Not many know that he came from a humble background. Kapil mentioned his initial job, at an STD/PCO booth, and his subsequent pay of Rs 500 in a recent conversation.

During an interview with Curly Tales, Kapil said that he began working when he was pretty young and earned Rs 500 per month. He said that at that time he was not working full time and that he often worked for just a few hours at a time.

He recalled, “I used to work for lesser hours then. From 10 pm to 1 am, and then in the morning from 4 am to 7 am.”

Kapil then detailed another job he had when he was 14 years old, working at a mill for Rs 900 per month. He told, “I have done a lot of odd little jobs. Like after I gave my 10th standard exams, I used to work at a garment mill. It used to be so hot that even the migrant labourers used to run back to their villages.”

He added, “We were just kids 14 years old, and we thought we will get Rs 900 per month. This was back in 1994. There was no pressure from home that you have to work but we would just buy our own thing with the money. A music system, get a gift for mom, it used to feel nice.”

Meanwhile, his film 'Zwigato' was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews.
