New Delhi: After International Indian Film Academy announced IIFA 2022 has been postponed to July, it has now been announced by the IIFA organizers that the event will now take place on June 2.
The delay earlier occured due the demise of the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. UAE had declared a 40-day mourning period. As a result, IIFA which was supposed to happen on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi from May 19 to 21, was delayed.
"The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) has decided that the 2022 IIFA Weekend & Awards will be held instead from the 14th to 16th of July 2022. Further confirmations and updates on the new IIFA schedule will be shared soon," IANS had reported.
However, according to a new statement that was issued on Tuesday, 17th May, organizers have announced the new dates of the 22nd edition of IIFA awards.
"Uniting the world to showcase cinematic excellence, IIFA is pleased to confirm the final new dates of June 2 to 4, 2022 (and not in July as our previous communication mentioned),” the IIFA organizers said through a press statement.
This year, superstar Salman Khan and actor Riteish Deshmukh will host the extravaganza. Actors whose performances have been confirmed include Sara Ali Khan, Ranveer Singh, Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Pandey,and Nora Fatehi among others.
Ranveer who is super excited about his performance at the IIFA said, "Yas Island is like home to me, as I am the brand ambassador of such a spectacular destination! I am super thrilled to be heading there to entertain people with a performance that will be super special."
"The 22nd edition of the biggest celebration of Indian cinema - the International Indian Film Academy & Awards, is taking place in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, and it doesn't get bigger than this! I am looking forward to a 'KHAAS' (special) IIFA experience at Yas because I know that from the hospitality to the awe- inspiring celebrations, it's going to be epic", he told IANS.
