'I Feel Confident To Speak About It': Priyanka Chopra On Why She Discussed Being Cornered In Bollywood
At ‘Citadel’ press conference, Priyanka was asked why she felt it was necessary to come up about her history at this time.
New Delhi: Priyanka Chopra has recently made headlines for spilling the beans on her personal life, professional struggles, and isolation in Bollywood. The actress was candid about how Bollywood neglected her and which is why she was forced to make a career in Hollywood. The actress explained why she is speaking out now at a press conference for her upcoming show ‘Citadel’.
Priyanka spoke during the Asia-Pacific press conference for her fiction espionage thriller series ‘Citadel,’ in which she stars alongside Richard Madden.
Priyanka was asked why she felt it was necessary to come up about her history at this time. To which she said: “I think, first of all, when I was on the podcast I was asked about the journey of my life. And, I spoke about when I was young when I was 10, 15, 22, 30, 40 or whatever… So I was talking about the truth of my journey and now because I was confident enough to talk about that phase of my life.”
She further said, “I think now where I am… I was okay enough to kind of articulate what I felt. I had a very tumultuous relationship with what occurred, I forgave, moved on a long time ago and then I made my peace with it. I think that's why it was easy for me to talk about it in an open manner in a safe space.”
Priyanka Chopra said that she was opposed by certain people in the Hindi film business, who reportedly stopped casting her in movies. Priyanka revealed this to Dax Shepherd on his podcast Armchair Expert. Though the actress didn’t reveal anyone’s names, her comment caused a little controversy.
On April 28, Prime Video will premiere ‘Citadel’, an epic espionage drama.
