Adrien Brody-Starrer The Brutalist, Nominated For 10 Oscars, To Release In India On THIS Date

The Brutalist tells the story of László Toth (Brody), a Hungarian Jewish architect, and his wife Erzsebet (Felicity Jones), who flee post-World War II Europe to start anew in America.

Filmmaker Brady Corbet's period drama The Brutalist, starring Oscar winner Adrien Brody, will be released in Indian theatres on February 28, as announced by Universal Pictures on Friday. The film, which has earned 10 Oscar nominations at the 2025 Academy Awards, was originally set to release in India on January 24. However, the date has now been changed. Universal Pictures India announced that the film will be released on February 28, 2025.

About The Brutalist

'The Brutalist' tells the story of László Toth (Brody), a Hungarian Jewish architect, and his wife Erzsebet (Felicity Jones), who flee post-World War II Europe to start anew in America. Their lives take a dramatic turn when they encounter Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce), a mysterious and wealthy client.

Corbet, known for directing The Childhood of a Leader and Vox Lux, shared his long-standing interest in period dramas. “I’ve always been intrigued by this time period, especially how post-war psychology influenced post-war architecture,” he said in a statement.

He further added, "The Brutalist' is a historical film, with characters shaped by their circumstances. It explores the immigrant experience in America and how the American Dream ultimately fails Laszlo and Erzsebet Toth."

Awards

The film garnered significant recognition at the Golden Globes last month, winning three awards, including Best Drama Film, Best Director for Corbet, and Best Actor for Brody. At the 97th Academy Awards, it earned 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress for Jones, and Best Supporting Actor for Pearce.

'The Brutalist' had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last September, where it received widespread praise. Brady Corbet was awarded the Silver Lion for Best Director for his work on the film.

The Brutalist also stars Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy, Stacy Martin, Emma Laird, Isaach De Bankole, and Alessandro Nivola.
