DPIFF Refutes Allegations, Reaffirms Commitment To Indian Cinema

Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) denies false allegations, confirms commitment to celebrating Indian cinema and artistic excellence.

The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) has issued an official statement refuting recent allegations made against its organisation and leadership, calling the claims baseless and intended to damage its reputation.

According to the statement, the festival, which was initially scheduled for February 20, 2025, at Taj Lands End in Mumbai, faced extortion threats from certain individuals who allegedly demanded concessions and threatened to disrupt the event. Following the refusal of these demands, false allegations were reportedly made against DPIFF’s Managing Director, Mr. Anil Mishra, and CEO, Mr. Abhishek Mishra.

These developments raised security concerns for both the organising team and invited guests, prompting the postponement of the event. Legal proceedings were subsequently initiated to address the claims, which have since been reviewed by the judiciary. DPIFF has confirmed that a formal verification process is underway at Bandra Police Station, involving both the organisation and its senior leadership.

DPIFF issues statement

In a statement, DPIFF CEO Mr. Abhishek Mishra said:“Since its inception, Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival has stood as a proud torchbearer of India’s rich cinematic legacy, committed to celebrating artistic excellence. Recent challenges only strengthened our resolve. We upheld the truth with dignity and are grateful to the Indian judicial system for reaffirming it. To every artist, filmmaker, and cinephile, thank you for your unwavering support. We now look forward to an even bigger and brighter celebration of Indian cinema and the artists that make Indian cinema what it is.”
