While the actress has been a fighter, she recently revealed her kids' reaction on knowing about her surgery.
New Delhi: Television actress and digital content creator Chhavi Mittal has become a source of inspiration, post her breast cancer surgery, that took place recently. Chhavi is back to her normal routine and keeps motivating other cancer survivors by sharing snippets from her post-surgery routine.
While the actress has been a fighter, she recently revealed her kids' reaction on knowing about her surgery. Chhavi, who is a mother of a 9 year old daughter and a 3 year old son, shared in an interview with ETimes, how her daughter Areeza broke down on knowing about her mother's illness.
Chhavi came to know about her breast cancer after she went for a routine check-up, owing to a chest injury in gym, which led to a few tests that further led to her cancer diagnosis. She told her husband, friends and family members about it, who all were extremely concerned about the situation, but Chhavi braved it all like a fighter and pacified them with her positivity.
Telling her kids about the same was a little tough. While Chhavi did not tell her son about the diagnosis, her daughter broke down when she came to know about it.
In the interview, Chhavi said, "I told him that I have hurt my right side and he should be careful when he hugs me. He keeps asking me which is the left side before hugging now. He asked me to show him the scars and I did. He keeps asking me how I got hurt, though. He's made up a story that I got hurt while running and I go with his story."
Talking about her daughter, the actress said, "I told her it's a problem and I am going to fix it. I added that if I am not here for a few days, then she should not worry as Nani (maternal grandmother) would be coming down and staying with her. She knows about cancer as I had lost my Nani to esophageal cancer. She turned around and said, 'Mummy, is it that?' I said, 'Yes'. And, she started crying."
Chhavi then revealed how she consoled her daughter and made her understand that she would be soon be normal once again and be back in the gym. Chhavi also said that her children wanted to stay with her in the hospital, but she did not them to see her in pain.
As per her promise to her daughter, Chhavi returned to the gym after a few days, post her surgery. She recently celebrated the birthday of her son Arham and shared a heartwhelming post for him, on the occasion.
