Varun Dhawan recently opened up about his decision to decline an invitation to appear on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent.

Varun Dhawan recently opened up about his decision to decline an invitation to appear on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the Baby John actor shared that while he appreciates the show's humour, he opted out to avoid potential controversy.

Varun Dhawan on Samay Raina's show

Discussing Samay Raina’s rising popularity and unique comedic style, Varun revealed that he was invited to be a guest on the show but ultimately decided against it.

“He asked me to be on the show, and honestly, I’d love to go on it. I thrive in that kind of environment. I’m not scared of being cancelled, but my concern is that it could affect his show negatively. The more eyeballs you get with that type of humour, sometimes it becomes a crossfire," he explained.

Ranveer encouraged Varun to reconsider, but the actor stood firm in his decision, adding, “I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m not worried for myself, but I think the teams I work with might have concerns. I’d have to do it when I’m not promoting something because it will definitely be a crossfire."

Ranveer Allahbadia’s Controversy & Apology

This conversation comes at a time when India’s Got Latent has been embroiled in controversy. Ranveer Allahbadia, a popular podcaster with 4.5 million Instagram followers and over 10.5 million YouTube subscribers, recently faced backlash for an inappropriate remark made during his time as a judge on the show. The comment sparked outrage and led to widespread criticism online.

In response, Ranveer issued a public apology on social media, stating, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry. My comment was inappropriate—it wasn’t even funny. Comedy isn’t my forte. Many of you asked if this is how I want to use my platform, and obviously, it’s not. I won’t offer any context or justification. I’m just here to apologise."

Despite the backlash, India’s Got Latent continues to draw attention with its bold and unconventional format. Whether Varun Dhawan will eventually make an appearance on the show remains uncertain.
