Rajkummar Rao has been in talks for the Sourav Ganguly biopic and now it seems that fasn are in for some good news on Friday morning. Confirmation about the same has come from makers as Bollywood actor Rao will portray the former Indian cricket team captain on the silver screen.
Ganguly confirms his biopic
Ganguly spoke about to the media in West Bengal's Bardhaman on Thursday and said, "From what I've heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role (the titular role)...but there are issues of dates...so it will take more than a year to hit the screens."
The former captain represented India in 113 Tests and 311 ODIs, amassing a total of 18,575 runs across all formats during his illustrious international career. Known as the Prince of Kolkata, he later assumed the role of president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) before being appointed as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in October of the previous year.
He captained India to 21 Test victories and guided the team to the final of the 2003 World Cup. The left-handed batter also contributed to the BCCI’s technical committee and the Cricket Advisory Committee, alongside other cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. Although Ganguly retired from international cricket in 2008, he finished his career with over 18,000 runs across formats.
Rajkummar Rao's work front
Rajkummar Rao will be seen in 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' alongside Wamiqa Gabbi. The makers of the film had also recently unveiled the teaser of the film. Interestingly, the highlight of the teaser was the song 'Chor Bazaari' from Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan-starrer 'Love Aaj Kal'(2009) in the backdrop and Wamiqa Gabbi happened to have a small role in the film.
In addition to Bhool Chuk Maaf, RajKummar Rao also has Maalik in his lineup.
