Sonakshi Sinha Shares Why Her Marriage Was Delayed, Zaheer Iqbal Adds, 'Lot Of People Fill Your Head, Shaadi Ke Baad Sab...'

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal dated for seven years before tying the knot. Here's what the pair has to say about delaying the marriage.

New Delhi: Newlyweds Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal recently shared the journey of their 7-year-long relationship and why they got married late. Sonakshi and Zaheer had a civil wedding ceremony on June 23 in Mumbai. The happy pair also held a lavish wedding reception for celebrities and friends. 

Sonakshi Sinha was questioned by Galatta India regarding the reason for her late marriage. The actress shared, “When we started dating, I was the first one who told him, "I love you." I was the first one who told him, ‘I am going to marry you, whether you like it or not’. And then we continued dating for about seven years before we actually did get married. But he got on board the train a little later. like eventually getting to know each other and then, of course, spending time with each other. And then our relationship grew, our bond grew deeper, you know. And then we really reached the point where he said, "Yes, I want to marry you."”

Zaheer Iqbal on Delaying the Marriage

Zaheer added, “The thing is that I was enjoying this relationship so much. And then, when you're growing up, a lot of people fill your head with, "Oh, everything changes after marriage." So I was like, if it's going to change, let's enjoy it a bit more. So, I kept postponing it. And then finally, I couldn't wait any longer.”

Sonakshi concluded, “It has just been a beautiful courtship, friendship, and relationship. And so beyond a point, it doesn't really matter when you get married because you know you are going to get married.”

In the same conversation, Zaheer Iqbal also shared the story of asking Shatrughan Sinha for his daughter’s hand. He confessed that he was "terrified" when he discussed the prospect of marriage with his father-in-law.
