Veteran actor and filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar recently expressed his admiration for Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, calling him an “extraordinary” yet “underrated” actor. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mahesh shared his dream of directing Shah Rukh in a unique role and even revealed that he has a perfect script in mind for the charismatic star.
Mahesh on Shah Rukh’s Acting Prowess
Speaking about Shah Rukh's talent, Mahesh said, “There is one actor who, as an actor, who is very underrated but I feel he is brilliant, is Shah Rukh Khan. As an actor, he is extraordinary. He is so easy in front of the camera.”
A Dream Role for Shah Rukh
Mahesh further detailed his vision for Shah Rukh's character, sharing, “It's a brilliant film where I want him to play a paid assassin. Extraordinary film. As I said, he who must have graduated in economics, then somewhere he has come here, so he's always well dressed, has a rimless glass ka chashma (spectacles). And he believes ki he is the best today because he plans everything routinely. It's a very very very good rule.”
Mahesh Manjrekar’s Journey
Mahesh made his acting debut with the Marathi film Jeeva Sakha (1992) and built a reputation as a talented character actor. He later turned to direction, helming critically acclaimed films like Vaastav: The Reality (1999), Astitva (2000), and Viruddh... Family Comes First (2005).
Shah Rukh Khan’s Upcoming Projects
While Shah Rukh did not have a release in 2024, his last film Dunki, directed by Rajkummar Hirani, hit theaters in December 2023. Fans are eagerly awaiting his next project, King, which will also feature his daughter Suhana Khan. The film is set to begin filming in March 2025 and is slated for a global release in 2026.
