Comedian Samay Raina delays India tour
Samay wrote, "Hello guys, I am rescheduling my India tour. You all will get the refunds shortly, see you soon."
India's Got Latent Row
The comedian rescheduled his India tour due to an ongoing case against him for promoting inappropriate content on his show India's Got Latent. The controversy started when comments made by Ranveer Allahbadia about parents and sex on Samay Raina's show went viral, leading to a lot of backlash.
Following public outrage, multiple police complaints were lodged against Ranveer Allahbadia and others associated with the show in both Mumbai and Guwahati. The cyber cell, along with the Mumbai police, is now conducting separate investigations into Allahbadia's controversial remarks made on Samay Raina's YouTube show, India's Got Latent.
Earlier, Ranveer issued a statement expressing concerns for his safety, revealing that people had forced their way into his mother’s clinic.
He took to his Instagram, and shared a note in which he wrote, “My team and I are cooperating with the police and all other authorities. I will follow due process and be available to all agencies. My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful. It is my moral responsibility to do better and I am genuinely sorry. I'm watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family. People have invaded my mother's clinic posing as patients”.
Ashish Chanchlani and Ranveer Allahbadia have gone to the Maharashtra Cyber Cell to give their statements about the issue. The police have summoned over 30 people for questioning after filing an FIR. However, they haven’t yet recorded Samay Raina's statement, who hosted India's Got Latent.
Meanwhile, Samay Raina is currently outside of India and has so far avoided the legal proceedings.
