Rohit Shetty Confirms Simmba 2 and Sooryavanshi Sequel

Rohit Shetty has confirmed that Simmba 2 and Sooryavanshi sequel are in the works. The filmmaker also shared future plans for expanding Bollywood's biggest cop universe.

All Rohit Shetty fans, there's exciting news on the horizon! The blockbuster filmmaker is all set to expand his widely-loved cop universe. After the massive success of 'Singham', 'Simmba', and 'Sooryavanshi', Shetty has confirmed sequels to both Simmba and Sooryavanshi, with plans for even more characters and films to join the action-packed universe.

Rohit Shetty on expanding cop universe

In a recent interview with Komal Nahta on his podcast Gamechangers, Shetty revealed, “Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi. Aur bhi log aayenge. Aur bhi filmein banengi cop universe mein. So, that’s why we created that universe.” (Simmba’s sequel will happen. Sooryavanshi will also move forward. More actors and more films will be added to the cop universe.)

Rohit Shetty also shared that the cop universe wasn’t a pre-planned franchise. Back in 2011, when he directed 'Singham', he had no idea it would grow into such a powerful brand. It was while scripting 'Simmba' that the concept of a connected universe took shape, eventually leading to the introduction of Akshay Kumar’s 'Sooryavanshi' and creating one of Bollywood’s biggest film franchises.

The director also delved into his upcoming mega-project 'Singham Again', which brings together an ensemble cast like never before. “The idea of having Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Deepika Padukone together came to me back in 2019, while I was working on Sooryavanshi,” he shared.

On Deepika & Tiger's characters

Shetty further added that characters like Deepika and Tiger are being designed with larger arcs in mind, suggesting that their presence in Singham Again is just the beginning of their journey in the cop universe.

With Singham Again on the horizon and sequels to Simmba and Sooryavanshi in the pipeline, Rohit Shetty’s action universe is all set to deliver more high-octane drama, big-budget spectacles, and patriotic thrills.
