Oscar-Nominated British Actor Tom Wilkinson Dies At 75

New Delhi: Tragically, 75-year-old British actor Tom Wilkinson has passed away. He won a Bafta for his role in ‘The Full Monty’ and was nominated for an Oscar twice for his performances in ‘Michael Clayton’ and ‘In The Bedroom’. The legendary actor's death was confirmed in a statement sent by his agency, which added that his family was there during his last moments.
Tom is survived by his wife Diana Hardcastle and their two daughters, Alice and Mollie.
Wilkinson passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, according to a statement released by his agency. It reads: "It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announce that he died suddenly at home on December 30. His wife and family were with him. The family asks for privacy at this time."
Tom Wilkinson's acting in the 2001 family drama ‘In The Bedroom’ and the 2007 George Clooney–starring movie ‘Michael Clayton’ earned him two Oscar nominations: one for best actor and one for best supporting actor.
For his portrayal of Benjamin Franklin in the HBO series 'John Adams', with Paul Giamatti, he received both a Golden Globe in 2009 and an Emmy in 2008.
He has starred in over 130 films and TV shows. Some of his best films include, Shakespeare in Love (1998), Batman Begins (2005), and the 2011 thriller Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
Wilkinson was born in Yorkshire but spent his childhood in Canada and Cornwall.
