On May 15, Nick Jonas appeared on the talk show Kelly and Mark, where he opened up about his love story with Priyanka and shared a touching update about their daughter, Malti Marie.

Nick Jonas on When He Knew Priyanka Was 'The One'

During the interview, hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos asked Nick about the loves of his life. The singer-actor revealed that his daughter Malti was actually present at the studio, watching her first live taping from behind the scenes. “She’s watching from the wings,” he shared with a smile.

When asked when he knew Priyanka was the one, Nick responded without hesitation:“Pretty immediately.”

He explained that the two were friends for about a year before their relationship turned romantic.

“We had a few conversations in those early days… she came over to the house… and once we started dating, it was pretty much like two months to engagement and then another three or four months after that we got married,” he said.

Kelly and Mark, who had hosted a dinner for the couple back then, fondly remembered how nervous they were.

“We felt like nervous parents,” Kelly joked. Nick nodded and added, “I didn’t want to mess up either.”

Kelly even shared that her kids were unusually well-behaved that evening, sensing that something important was happening. Nick laughed and concluded, “It was a unique experience for all of us, but it all worked out.”

 Malti Marie Is Learning Karate!

The conversation turned to Nick and Priyanka’s daughter, Malti Marie, who is nearing her third birthday. Nick revealed that while Malti isn’t into soccer, she’s currently learning karate — a fact that delighted the audience.

Nick, who is receiving praise for his role in the Broadway show The Last Five Years, said this period has been a special chapter for their family.

“We’re here in New York doing this show, and it’s kind of the first time in a long time that we’ve been in one place for longer than a few weeks as a family.”

Although Priyanka has been traveling back and forth to India for her film shoots, Nick said it’s been wonderful to enjoy a sense of routine together:“It’s amazing.”
