Fans are eagerly anticipating superstar Mohanlal’s upcoming film 'Hridayapoorvam', especially following the massive success of 'L2: Empuraan'. Directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, Hridayapoorvam also stars Malavika Mohanan in a prominent role. Recently, Malavika announced that she had wrapped up the film’s first schedule, calling it an enriching experience.
Mohanlal and Malavika's age gap
However, a section of the internet has raised eyebrows over the 33-year age difference between Mohanlal, 64, and Malavika, 31. The age gap led to speculation about the nature of their onscreen relationship, with some assuming that Mohanlal would be playing her romantic interest.

One social media user commented on Malavika’s post, writing: "65-year-old man playing the love interest of a 30-year-old. What is with these veteran actors desperate to play roles that don't fit their ages?"
Malavika Mohanan did not hold back in her response, firmly addressing the assumptions. She wrote: “Who told you it’s a love interest? Stop judging people and a film based on your half-baked, baseless assumptions.”
Earlier, while wrapping up the first schedule of Hridayapoorvam, Malavika expressed her gratitude for being part of the project.
“Learned so much from the stalwarts—Mohanlal sir & Sathyan Sir. Just watching them, having them guide me, seeing how they bring cinematic magic to life—and all of this they do with so much dignity, respect, and grace. It was a beautiful, warm, wholesome, heartwarming experience.” she shared.
Work front
In 2024, Malavika appeared in the Tamil film 'Thangalaan' and the Hindi action drama 'Yudhr'a. She has an exciting lineup ahead, including the Telugu film 'The Raja Saab' opposite Prabhas, 'Sardar 2' with Karthi in Tamil, and the Malayalam film 'Hridayapoorvam'.
Mohanlal, meanwhile, was last seen in L2: Empuraan, which became the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. Apart from Hridayapoorvam, he will be seen in Malayalam films Thudarum and Vrushabha. He will also make a cameo appearance in the upcoming Telugu film Kannappa.
