Madhuri Dixit Called 'Second-Grade Star'; Congress MLA's Remark Creates Controversy

Madhuri Dixit became a topic of discussion online after Congress leader Tikaram Jully referred to her as a 'second-grade star' who is 'past her prime'. Rajasthan's Leader of Opposition triggered a controversy with his remarks. The Congress MLA was speaking at the Rajasthan Assembly on Wednesday where he criticised the presence of fewer Bollywood celebs at the IIFA ( International Indian Film Academy) awards and even questioned the award's impact on the state.
Tikaram Jully on Madhuri Dixit
"What benefit did we get from IIFA? How many big stars attended? Did they visit any tourist spots? They didn’t go to any tourist destinations. And which big name came? Except for Shah Rukh Khan, all were second-grade actors. No first-grade actor attended," Tikaram Jully said.
The controversy took a completely different turn when a member of the Assembly took Madhuri Dixit's name, to which Jully responded, "Madhuri Dixit is a second-grade actor now. Her time has passed. She was a big star in movies like Dil and Beta. No big stars attended. If Amitabh Bachchan didn’t come, then who did?"

This time, the IIFA 2025 was celebrated in Jaipur and saw the presence of several high-profile Bollywood celebrities including Rekhan, Karan Johar, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan and several others graced the show.
Shama Mohamed’s remarks about Rohit Sharma
Jully's remarks have come only a day after Congress leader Shama Mohamed sparked controversy after she questioned Indian cricket caption Rohit Sharma's fitness. She called Rohit Sharma "fat for a sportsperson" and the "most unimpressive" captain in India's history. However, she later praised Sharma for leading the team to a four-wicket victory against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai.
