'Ab Koi Nayi Pareshani...': Javed Akhtar Quips About New Challenges After Ending Feud With Kangana Ranaut

Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar and actor-MP Kangana Ranaut have officially put an end to their long-standing legal battle.

Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar and actor-MP Kangana Ranaut have officially put an end to their long-standing legal battle. After five years of courtroom disputes, the two have finally reached a settlement in their defamation case. While Javed has moved past the controversy, he humorously hinted at seeking a new challenge now that the matter is resolved.

Javed Reacts to the Settlement with Kangana Ranaut

In a recent interaction with Aaj Tak, Javed Akhtar confirmed that all issues between him and Kangana have been resolved.

“Yes, the cases have been settled. She has taken back her word and the allegations. She has committed that she would never repeat it again. She has apologised for all the inconvenience caused to me. She also withdrew her case. Maine paise toh maange nahi the, apology chahiye thi, jo mil gayi (I didn’t ask for any money in the defamation case. I wanted an apology, which I have got),” Javed stated.

When asked if he now feels at peace, Javed jokingly responded, “Nahi, ab dekhta hoon. Koi doosri pareshani mool lunga” (No, now I will see. I might take on some other challenge).

Kangana and Javed's Legal Dispute

The legal battle between Kangana and Javed Akhtar began after an interview she gave in 2020 following actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. During the interview, Kangana alleged that Javed had pressured her to apologise to Hrithik Roshan after their 2016 public dispute.

"Once Javed Akhtar called me to his house and told me Rakesh Roshan (father of Hrithik Roshan) and his family are very big people. If you don't apologise to them, you will have nowhere to go. They will put you in jail, and eventually, the only path would be that of destruction… you will commit suicide. These were his words. He shouted and yelled at me. I was shaking in his house," Kangana had claimed in the interview.

Following these remarks, Javed filed a defamation case against Kangana, which continued for years.

The End of a Longstanding Battle

Last week, both Kangana and Javed withdrew their respective complaints before the Bandra magistrate court, officially bringing their legal feud to a close.

Kangana shared the news on Instagram, posting a happy picture of herself with Javed.

"Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed ji has been very kind and gracious. He also agreed to write songs for my next directorial," Kangana wrote.

In her official statement, she admitted that her remarks from the 2020 interview were based on a misunderstanding. “I hereby unconditionally withdraw all the statements made by me in the interview dated 19.07.2020 and thereafter and I undertake not to repeat the same in future,” she stated.

Kangana also extended her apologies to Javed for any inconvenience caused and acknowledged her respect for him.
