Abhijeet Bhattacharya On Dua Lipa Performing Levitating-Woh Ladki Jo Mashup: 'I Don’t Care Who Dua Lipa Is'

Dua Lipa’s recent performance in Mumbai caught the attention of fans worldwide, especially when she danced to the viral Levitating x Woh Ladki Jo mashup.

Dua Lipa’s recent performance in Mumbai caught the attention of fans worldwide, especially when she danced to the viral Levitating x Woh Ladki Jo mashup. The mashup, which blends her hit Levitating with the iconic 1999 song Woh Ladki Jo from the film Baadshah, quickly gained traction on social media. While Shah Rukh Khan’s fans went wild with excitement, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya was upset with credit not being given to him and the composer of the song.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya says Dua Lipa should have given credit to creators

In a conversation with News 18, Abhijeet said that Dua Lipa should have credited the creators behind the mashup during her performance. He remarked, “It is his (Anu Malik) life’s greatest song. Dua Lipa should’ve said it (given credit). She also creates songs. Anu Malik, Javed Akhtar and I created this song.”

Abhijeet says he doesn't care who Dua Lipa is

However, Abhijeet added that while he didn’t mind whether Dua Lipa acknowledged him or not, he wanted to make it clear that the song was popular long before her performance. “To be very frank, I don’t care who Dua Lipa is. She can take my name or not, but when she performed it on stage, I was flooded with all the calls. People heard it. She cannot even name anyone; pronunciation would be wrong. What difference does it make? On the contrary, it made the song even more popular. It was popular before and it is popular even today,” he said.

Abhijeet's son upset with the lack of credit

Abhijeet’s son, Jay Bhattacharya, also took to Instagram and expressed his frustration with the lack of recognition for the artists behind the song. He wrote, “Unfortunately we live in a country where not one news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the voice and the artists of this song. Why has it always been about actors in this country? I'm sure when @dualipa heard this song she must have heard it and not seen it and not appreciated the man that has sung this song and yes, it is not SRK.”

Despite the controversy, Abhijeet dismissed the need for credit, stating he was happy as long as the song remained popular. He also defended his son’s actions, explaining that there was no ill intent behind his post, and that Jay simply wanted recognition for his father’s contribution.
