Aamir Khan Corrects ‘Top 3 Khans’ Tag, Says Ajay, Akshay, Hrithik Just As Deserving

Aamir Khan has addressed the often-used label of the "top three Khans" in Bollywood—referring to himself, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan—and expressed his discomfort with the term.

Aamir Khan has addressed the often-used label of the "top three Khans" in Bollywood—referring to himself, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan—and expressed his discomfort with the term. In a conversation with Raj Shamani, Aamir emphasised that other actors like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Hrithik Roshan have also contributed significantly to Indian cinema over the past three decades and deserve just as much recognition.

Aamir Khan wants Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan to get their due

Aamir pointed out that the repeated exclusion of actors like Ajay, Akshay, and Hrithik from such conversations is unfair. He said, “Mujhe jo cheeze taqlif deti hai ki log Shah Rukh, Salman aur mera naam lete hai. Hum teeno ka naam lete hai, acchi baat hai, ghalat baat nahi hai. Lekin mujhe bura lagta hai ki humare saath saath Ajay Devgn bhi itne hi saal chale hai, Akshay Kumar bhi itne hi saal chale hai, Hrithik bhi itne hi saal chale hai.”

Aamir doesn’t think he, Shah Rukh, and Salman alone deserve the spotlight

Aamir added that the success of his generation in the film industry should be seen more holistically. “There have been a host of all of us. This generation of all of us which has come in the late 80s. Woh generation sirf Salman, Shah Rukh aur main nahi. Humme se kayi log hai jo 30-35 saal se kaam karrahe hai, jo normal nahi hai. Sabne badi hits di aur sab bohut kamyaab hai. Toh main yeh correct karna chahta hoon.”

A look back at their early days

When asked why the three Khans are singled out as the top trio, Aamir speculated that it might be due to the kind of box office success their films achieved. Aamir’s breakout came with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988, while Salman rose to fame with Maine Pyar Kiya (1989).

Shah Rukh entered Bollywood in 1992 with Deewana, although he had earlier worked in television. Akshay Kumar debuted with Saugandh in 1991, and Ajay Devgn made a striking entry with Phool Aur Kaante the same year.
