Arbaaz Khan Feels Shah Rukh Khan 'Couldn't Pull It Off' As A Host On Small Screen, Says 'Audience Must Have Found Him Fake'
Arbaaz Khan discussed his hosting approach and claimed that while some stars could pull it off, Shah Rukh Khan was unable to "bring niceness and naturalism to the small screen."
New Delhi: Arbaaz Khan just debuted a new chat show on YouTube called 'The Invincibles' where he conducts conversations with legends of the Indian cinema business like Waheeda Rehman, Helen, Javed Akhtar, and his father Salim Khan. The actor discussed his hosting approach and claimed that while some stars, like Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, could pull it off, Shah Rukh Khan was unable to "bring niceness and naturalism to the small screen." He assumed that he must have appeared "fake" to the audience.
In 2007, Shah Rukh served as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati's third season. The actor has also hosted various reality shows, including Zor Ka Jhatka: Complete Wipeout in 2011 and Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain in 2008.
In an interview with The Free Press Journal, the actor claimed that his hosting approach was more casual and revealed his friendly side. He added that although certain celebrities' careers benefited from their hosting roles, others, like Shah Rukh, struggled to establish a connection with the viewers.
He said, "How Salman Khan bounced back with Dus Ka Dum and Mr Amitabh Bachchan with Kaun Banega Crorepati, even their film careers revived post these television reality shows. It’s only about the demeanours. Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t pull it off."
He continued, "I think he couldn’t bring niceness and naturalism to the small screen. People must have found him fake. There were two people. At the end of the day, you can’t be fake in front of television or you have to be very smart like Amitabh Bachchan. He knows his audience but Shah Rukh Khan couldn’t do it."
This month's first episode of The Invincibles debuted online. After Fast Heal Pinch in 2021, which was also broadcast online on YouTube, this is Arbaaz's second talk show. He intended to interview the more experienced members of the film business for this new show so that their reflections on their lives and professions might be archived and recorded. Mahesh Bhatt, a filmmaker, and actor Shatrughan Sinha will be future guests on the programme.
