Anurag Kashyap’s Crime Drama Nishaanchi To Hit Theatres On THIS Date

Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi, featuring Aaishvary Thackeray’s debut, hits cinemas September 19—an Amazon MGM-backed crime saga exploring brotherhood and betrayal.

‘Nishaanchi’, Anurag Kashyap’s long-in-the-making crime drama, will premiere in theatres on September 19, announced Amazon MGM Studios on Monday.

Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi release date out

The upcoming film, which took shape in 2016 under Kashyap’s pen, was produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh via Jar Pictures with Flip Films collaborating, and features political scion Aaishvary Thackeray alongside Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra.

The narrative explores two brothers whose choices catapult them onto dramatically divergent trajectories, unravelling themes of love, power, crime, betrayal, and redemption. Underlying these elements is the journey of consequences that follow human vulnerability and emotional intensity.

Anurag Kashyap reflected on the journey: “Nishaanchi was written in 2016 and since then I have been looking for a studio that trusted the team wholeheartedly.” He credited Amazon MGM Studios with finally offering the support needed: “Amazon MGM loved it, believed in it, and became the wall behind us.” The filmmaker compared the experience to “going back to my early days of filmmaking” and expressed excitement and nerves about the theatrical release.

About Nishaanchi

Nikhil Madhok, Director & Head of India Originals at Amazon MGM and Prime Video, praised Kashyap: “a maestro of raw, unfiltered, and emotionally charged storytelling.” Madhok added that “Nishaanchi” is part of their initial theatrical slate, reinforcing their confidence in big-screen, cinematic storytelling. He highlighted the film’s compelling mix of suspense, love, and conflict, and noted that the music reflects Kashyap’s “unique creative vision.”
