Amber Heard Surpasses Johnny Deep To Become The 2022 Most-Searched Celebrity On Google

Actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are involved in a defamation case that has recently become one of the most talked-about celebrity cases.

New Delhi: The defamation case involving actors Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has become one of recent most talked-about celebrity cases in recent times. Ever since their court case earlier this year, the Hollywood celebrities have been in the news. After a prolonged trial, Depp ultimately won in the lawsuit he had taken against his ex-wife.

However, due to their widely publicised legal dispute, Amber has been named the celebrity who has been looked for the most on Google this year. In 2022, Amber took the lead in Google search trends, closely followed by her ex-husband Johnny, according to the data that was analysed.

With an estimated 5.6 million searches per month in the US, Amber Heard topped the list of celebrities who were most frequently searched in 2022. Second on the list with 5.5 million monthly searches was Johnny Depp.

The 36-year-old actress has dominated the rankings, surpassing other celebrities like Elon Musk and Kim Kardashian, according to the Hollywood news website CelebTattler.

According to the report, Kim, Elon, American football player Tom Brady, actor Pete Davidson, and the late Queen Elizabeth II all placed third on the list.

In a statement, a spokesperson for CelebTattler told to The New York Post,“This year has certainly not been lacking when it comes to celebrity news stories, whether it be Elon Musk taking over Twitter or the Don’t Worry Darling behind-the-scenes drama.”

Amber Heard claimed herself a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 Washington Post article, which led Johnny Depp to sue her for defaming him. The trial for the US lawsuit took place in April and May, and the jury's decision was delivered in June. Both celebrities had their reputations tarnished at varying moments during the six-week televised trial. In the end, Johnny received $10.35 million in compensation for his losses, while Amber received $2 million.

Meanwhile, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard first met while filming The Rum Diary in 2009, and they later began dating. The couple tied the knot in 2015.
