'We Don't Promise High And Deliver Low': BRS's K Kavitha On Poll Manifesto In Telangana

Ahead of the polls in Telangana, BRS leader K Kavitha has said the party's manifesto was not an ambitious one but a doable one.

A day after the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi party (BRS) released its party manifesto for the upcoming Telangana assembly elections, party leader K Kavitha said that the promises made were doable, adding that the party 'does not promise very high and deliver low'. Speaking to PTI, she said, “We are very practical people and we understand the fiscal situation of our state. We do not promise very high and deliver low; we promise low and deliver high. It is not at all an ambitious manifesto, but a doable one."

In its manifesto released on Sunday, the BRS promised to raise social security pension amounts, financial assistance under the 'Rythu Bandhu' investment support scheme for farmers and provide LPG cylinders at Rs 400 among others. The state would vote on November 30 and the result would be declared on December 3.

Taking a jibe at the Congress, K Kavitha said the six guarantees given by the party ahead of the polls were a copy of the BRS. She said, "If you look at the six guarantees given by the Congress, they are nothing but a copy of the BRS' schemes, that we had already given in 2014 and 2018. The Congress is selling the same across the country."

On Sunday, Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy made a similar comment against the BRS and claimed that the manifesto promises were the same that the grand old party announced in the last two years.

"BRS leaders, all these days, questioned Congress on the implementability of the promises made by the party but the manifesto released by BRS proves that the promises announced by Congress can be implemented," the PCC president said.

BRS leaders have lost the right and opportunity to question the Congress, he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday exuded confidence that his party would return to power, adding that the promises announced by the BRS would be implemented within six to seven months after forming the government.
