'Congress Has History Of Deceiving Armed Forces': PM Modi In Haryana Rakes Up Defence 'Scams'

In an election rally today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of undermining India's defence capabilities through a series of scams.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress party of compromising the strength of the country's armed forces, citing multiple defense scams during a rally in Haryana's Ambala on Saturday. Campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates Banto Kataria in Ambala and Naveen Jindal in Kurushstetra, PM Modi underscored his government's commitment to making India self-reliant in defence.

"Congress's history has been of deceiving our armed forces and jawans. Congress did the first scam of the country with the armed forces," PM Modi said.

He referred to the Bofors, submarine, and helicopter scams, claiming these scandals weakened India's defense capabilities. "Do you know why? So that they can make earnings in the name of importing weapons from outside. They took no note of the requirements of our jawans...The Jawans didn't even have good rifles. They were given batons and told to face the bullets of terrorists. When Modi came to power, he said that this would not go on now. I started the initiative to make India's armed forces aatmanirbhar," the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi, further remarking on Pakistan, said, "Pakistan, which has been troubling India for the last 70 years and had bombs in its hands, now has a begging bowl. The enemies shiver like this when there is a 'dhakad' government".

Listing his government's achievements in the last decade, the PM said, "Could a weak government have changed the situation in Jammu & Kashmir? Remember the time when there was a Congress government and brave mothers of Haryana used to be worried day and night."

"Today, it has been 10 years - all of that has stopped. Modi's 'dhaakad' government demolished the wall of Article 370 and Kashmir started walking on the path of development," he added.

Further praising his government, the Prime Minister added, "This is our government, which brought back the copies of Guru Granth Sahib with respect from the battlefield of Afghanistan. It is our government that has started celebrating 'Veer Bal Diwas' in the memory of Sahibzadas".

Haryana Is Dhakhad Because...: PM Modi In Ambala

Highlighting the progress made for women in Haryana, Modi mentioned, "If Haryana is so famous in the world today, it is because of the strength of our daughters. Modi has also opened the doors of Sainik Schools for daughters. Currently, the batch of women cadets undergoing training at NDA has a large number of daughters from Haryana".

"Haryana means 'himmat', and Haryana means 'hausla'. That is why, Haryana is 'dhaakad'...Just like Haryana, Modi has run the government for 10 years in 'dhaakad' manner. Today, when you see Rafale aircraft in the skies of Ambala, don't you feel proud? I have come to seek your blessings for the next 5 years," he added.
