Northeast Parties Want Congress To Come Forward To Form Govt: Mallikarjun Kharge
According to the early trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with its alliance partner NDPP is leading on 35 seats in Nagaland.
Amid counting of votes in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday said that the political parties in the northeast support secular parties and are in favour of Congress stitching up an alliance to form government.
"Usually, northeast parties go with Central Govt trends but many leaders are committed to national politics. They support Congress, secular parties, democracy & constitution," said the Congress chief on being asked whether poll-results in Meghalaya, Nagaland & Tripura would be a reflection of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, reported news agency ANI.
"They feel that Congress, with alliance, should come forward to form the govt," he further added.
