A newly married bride arrived at a polling station in Bihar's Katihar to cast her vote and similar scenes were witnesses in Rajasthan's Udaipur where a groom cast his vote.

A newly married bride was seen arriving at a polling station in Bihar's Katihar to cast her vote as polling is underway for five parliamentary seats in the state in the second phase of Lok Sabha polls on Friday. Donning a red saree and a red veil, the woman got her finger inked after casting vote. 

50 candidates are in fray on five seats - Kishanganj, Katihar, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Banka where voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm with over 93 lakh registered voters, including 45.15 lakh women and 306 belonging to the third gender. 

The ruling Janata Dal (United), a Bharatiya Janata Party ally is contesting all the five seats, including Kishanganj, which it seeks to wrest from the Congress, while its MPs in the remaining four constituencies are trying to retain their turf.

Till 1 pm, the state recorded a voter turnout of 33.80 per cent. Purnea recorded a voter turnout of 36.59 per cent, Katihar registered 35.37 per cent, Kishanganj recorded 34.65 per cent, Banka registered 32.32 per cent and Bhagalpur recorded 30.29 per cent till 1 pm, as per a PTI report.

Groom Reaches To Vote In Udaipur

A similar incident was reported from Rajasthan's Udaipur where a groom reached his designated polling station to cast vote as 13 parliamentary seats are up for grab in the desert state in the second phase of polls on Friday. 

Voting is undway in Barmer-Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jalore, Chittorgarh, Banswara, Kota-Bundi, Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Pali, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Kota and Jhalawar-Baran, along with the Bagidora Assembly constituency where a bypoll is being held.
