Lalu Yadav's health deteriorates after RJD draws blank in Bihar

The former Bihar CM who is undergoing treatment at Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, has stopped taking day’s meal for quite a few days, which is causing continuous deterioration in his health.

New Delhi: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is serving jail term in Ranchi, has taken ill after the dismal performance of the party in the Lok Sabha elections. The former Bihar CM who is undergoing treatment at Ranchi's Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, has stopped taking day’s meal for quite a few days, which is causing continuous deterioration in his health, the doctor treating him said. It is to be noted that the RJD, under the stewardship of Lalu's son Tejashwi Yadav, contested the high-stake parliamentary polls, in the absence of party’s strongman Lalu Yadav. The party which contested on 19 seats in alliance with Congress, HAM(S), VIP and RLSP, ended up drawing a blank, in what is being termed its worst performance ever since its inception in 1997 after breaking out of the Janata Dal. As per RIMS doctor Umesh Prasad: “His (Lalu's)  daily routine is quite disorganised, since the last two or three days, he is somehow eating his breakfast but has stopped taking lunch. There is a vast time gap between his first and last meal, which is creating problems in administering insulin to him.” He said the doctors are trying to persuade him to start taking proper meals. If his diet is not improved, it will lead to an adverse impact on his blood and sugar level. When asked whether Lalu’s health is impacted due to his party’s poor electoral show, the doctors said that such questions have not been asked. But seeing his condition, this appears to be a situation of stress. Of the 40 seats in Bihar, NDA has bagged 39, while RJD could not win a single seat. Lalu is jailed for 14 years in fodder scam case in Ranchi. This was the first election since Lalu founded the RJD when he didn’t campaign.
