Haryana Polls: Impasse On Congress-AAP Alliance To End Today? Here's What We Know As Talks Continue

Congress and AAP are still negotiating an alliance for the upcoming Haryana polls, with no clear decision expected until Monday.

The suspense over a decision on the alliance between INDIA bloc partners Congress and Aam Aadmi Party for the upcoming Haryana polls continues. Any outcome over the decision is likely to be announced by Monday evening, sources told ABP News.

While the talks between the two parties are still on in the background, there has not been much clarity from AAP's side in their demands, the sources said.

Despite opposition from the Congress Haryana unit, party president Mallikarjun Kharge and leader Rahul Gandhi have advised to try and see that the two INDIA allies remain together in the state.

The last date to file a nomination is September 12.

On Sunday, the AAP also said that talks were underway but no final decision has been taken yet. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha had earlier said that both Congress and his party are trying to forge an alliance for the upcoming assembly polls in Haryana setting aside their individual aspirations.

The AAP leader had said that while the parties are yet to reach a consensus, the talks had been progressing in a "positive" direction and they are hopeful of a good outcome.

However, Chadha also signalled that his party would not move forward with the alliance "if there is no win-win situation". As per reports, AAP is demanding 10 seats while the Congress is ready to give them only seven.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party took a dig at both the parties saying they have been "stuck in a quagmire of corruption" and claimed they would be wiped out in the polls.

"The Congress does not spare anyone. It exploits every section of society to fulfil its selfish interests. The party has nothing to do with the interests of the public," he said at a gathering in Ladwa in Kurukshetra.
