Exit Polls 2024 Tonight: Will They Mirror Past Hits And Misses? A Look Back At 2014, 2019

Exit polls are not always accurate and have been significantly off the mark in the past. Here's a look at the exit polls projections and the actual results in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. 

Voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is about to end today with the conclusion of the seventh phase. Before the final results are announced on June 4, exit polls will attempt to predict the outcome of the elections later this evening. The exit polls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be broadcast from 6:30 PM on June 1, 30 minutes after the polling ends. 

The actual results for all 543 parliamentary seats will be announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on June 4.

In 2014, most exit polls predicted the BJP-led NDA coming to power but failed to accurately forecast the landslide victory that ensued.

The 2024 Lok Sabha Elections

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections witnessed a direct fight between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Congress-led I.N.D.I.A bloc. The ruling BJP sought a third straight term under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, setting an ambitious target of "400 paar" seats for the NDA.
