Delhi Election 2025: L-G Saxena Orders Inquiry Into Sandeep Dikshit's 'Surveillance' Claim
Delhi's Lieutenant Governor has ordered an inquiry into allegations by Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit that Punjab Police have launched a surveillance against him on behalf of the AAP.
Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena has ordered an inquiry into the Congress's allegations of mounting surveillance on Sandeep Dikshit using Punjab Police to help the Aam Aadmi Party in the Delhi Assembly election 2025.
"This has reference to the representation received from Sandeep Dikshit, former Member of Parliament and proposed candidate of Indian National Congress for the Delhi Vidhan Sabha Elections, 2025. He has made serious allegations that intelligence personnel from Punjab Government have been visiting his house and their vehicles are often found parked outside his residence. He has further alleged that this is being done at the behest of Arvind Kejriwal to curb the democratic process and free and fair election," read a letter by the Principal Secretary to the Governor.
The Congress had also accused the AAP government in Punjab of routing money to Delhi ahead of the elections.
"The Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor has noted that the allegations made out are grave and with the impending Elections to Vidhan Sabha, it is imperative that prospective candidates are not intimidated and discouraged from participating in the democratic process," the letter further read.
Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has sought a comprehensive report of the inquiry within three days.
Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, however, alleged that Sandeep Dikshit's complaint to the L-G was just a BJP move. "The BJP doesn't have the guts to go up against us. That's why they are using Sandeep Dikshit of the Congress to send complaints to the L-G."
The AAP had warned the Congress that it would approach INDIA partners to request the ouster of the Grand Old Party from the Opposition coalition if it did not take action against those speaking against AAP. Earlier, the Congress had called Arvind Kejriwal "anti-national".
The AAP, on the other hand, accused the Congress of taking funds from the BJP to fight against Arvind Kejriwal.
