2019 Lok Sabha polls: BJP worker Raman Singh found dead in West Bengal's Jhargram
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was found dead in Gopiballabpur of Jhargram district in West Bengal on the eve of polling in the constituency.
Jhargram: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was found dead in Gopiballabpur of Jhargram district in West Bengal on the eve of polling in the constituency.
Villagers recovered the dead body in Chunsole village under Belebera police station late on Saturday night. BJP has claimed he has been attacked by ruling TMC. The BJP worker has been identified as Raman Singh. He was found dead on Saturday night.
In a seperate incident, two BJP workers Ananta Guchait & Ranjit Maity were also shot last night in Bhagabanpur, East Medinipur. Both the injured were admitted to hospital.
The incident took place on the eve of the sixth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in the state. Eight constituencies in the state – Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur – will vote on Sunday, May 12. The ruling Trinamool Congress, the BJP, the Congress and the Left Front constituents – the CPI(M), the CPI and the AIFB – are the main contenders in the state.
The counting of votes in the state will be held on May 23.
