Kejriwal Elected AAP's Legislative Party Leader; Will Take Oath As Delhi CM On Feb 16

Kejriwal’s right-hand man and the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia will hold a press conference at 1 pm on Wednesday and may brief media about the ceremony.

New Delhi:  After spearheading his party to a resounding victory, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has been elected as the leader of the AAP Legislative Party in the Assembly by the MLAs on Wednesday. Kejriwal will be taking oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi for the third time in a row on February 16. Kejriwal was elected unopposed during a meeting at his residence with all the 62 MLAs. Senior party leader Manish Sisodia, also the MLA elect from Patparganj, proposed to make Kejriwal the leader of the legislative party. Along with the MLAs, election in-charge Sanjay Singh and campaign in-charge Pankaj Gupta were also in the meeting. “Kejriwal will be taking oath as Delhi Chief Minister on February 16 at Ramlila Ground. I urge all the people of Delhi to mark their presence in the ceremony,” said Sisodia while addressing the media after the Legislative Party meeting. "The entire cabinet will take oath along with the CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal. The ceremony will begin at 10 AM on 16th February at Ramlila Maidan," said Sisodia. Earlier, AAP leader Ram Niwas Goel had also confirmed that the ceremony will be held in Delhi’s Ramlila Ground. Preparations have already begun at Ramlila Ground for the ceremony. The 51-year-old bureaucrat-turned-politician almost replicated the AAP's fairy-tale victory of 2015 by riding on his government's development agenda, and in the process emerged as a key leader in the national political landscape.
