UP Teacher Asks Class 5 Muslim Students To Hit Hindu Classmate, Arrested
The teacher allegedly asked muslim students to slap their fellow Hindu classmate, when the boy failed to answer a question.
In a controversial development, a school teacher in Uttar Pradesh’ Sambhal district instructed muslim students to slap a hindu student in her class. The teacher’s move showcasing communal hatred came after the boy failed to answer a question in the class, as per the police. The incident has been reported from a private school in Sambhal district’s Dugawar village, within the limits of Asmoli police station, the police said.
Following a complaint from the boy’s father, the school teacher, ‘Shaista’ has been booked under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Additional SP Shrish Chandra was reported as saying by news agency PTI.
After the incident, the boy’s father alleged that after failing to answer a question asked by the teacher in the said school where his son is a Class 5 student, the teacher got his son slapped by his muslim classmates. In his complaint, the boy’s father has further stated that the move has also hurt his son’s religious feelings. An investigation into the matter is underway, and the accused teacher has been arrested, the official was further reported as saying.
Surprisingly, in a similar incident, another teacher from a private school in UP’s Muzaffarnagar asked hindu students in her class to slap a muslim student for not doing his homework. The accused teacher in the matter, Tripta Tyagi, was booked under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
Pulling up the UP government for its ho-hum probe in the Muzaffarnagar incident, the Supreme Court on September 25, underlined that punishing students on the grounds of religion is an impediment to quality education. The apex court ordered the UP government to appoint a senior IPS officer within a week to probe the case.
