IIT Madras Begins Registrations For BS Data Science Programme; Exam On July 7

Interested students can apply for the IIT Madras BS Data Science programme before May 26, 2024.

The Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Madras has invited applications for the IIT Madras BS Data Science programme. Introduced in June 2020, this programme enables students to pursue studies at IIT Madras without the necessity of taking the highly competitive JEE exam. Interested students can apply for the IIT Madras BS Data Science programme before May 26, 2024. BS Data Science examination is scheduled for July 7, 2024. The exams will be held online at 150 exam centres.

IIT Madras is leading the way in forming partnerships with esteemed institutions to enrich student’s educational journeys, providing a chance for face-to-face mentorship. The BS Data Science programme is special because it will let students study at IIT Madras without having to take the JEE exam. Currently, more than 27,000 students are a part of the BS Data Science programme.

“I am proud of the achievements of our BS data science program and its students. The program has opened the doors of IITM to anyone who is willing to work hard and is interested in learning. We hope to introduce more such programs to reach all sections of society.” Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director said.

“The program's integration of multiple exit options empowers students to acquire the necessary skills at each level and pursue their desired goals effectively. Moreover, its holistic approach, which encompasses project-based assignments, research projects, academic competitions, and leadership roles within student communities, enhances the educational experience and cultivates valuable skills among participants.” further highlighting the features of the programme Prof. V. Kamakot said.

The fee completely exempts all female students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 5 lakh per annum (LPA) and male students with a yearly family income of Rs. 1 LPA. More than 3,645 students have availed this advantage, enabling them to focus on academics alone without allowing financial worries.
