ICAI Announces Major Change: CA Final Exams To Be Held Three Times A Year Starting 2025

ICAI CA Final Exams: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will conduct the CA Final exam three times a year from 2025, aligning with global best practices.

CA Exams News: Aspiring Chartered Accountants in India will soon have more opportunities to clear their final exams. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially announced that, beginning in 2025, the CA Final exams will be conducted three times a year instead of the current twice-a-year schedule.

ICAI has more than 10 lakh students and around 4 lakh members.

This landmark decision aligns the CA Final exam frequency with that of the CA Intermediate and Foundation levels, which had already transitioned to a thrice-a-year format last year. The move is expected to provide students with increased flexibility, allowing them to better plan their exam attempts and career progression.

Step Towards Global Best Practices

According to news agency PTI, ICAI in an official statement stressed that this change is designed to improve accessibility and bring Indian CA exams in line with global standards. "To align with global best practices and offer students greater opportunities, the 26th Council of ICAI has made a historic decision to hold the CA Final exam three times a year. Previously, these exams were conducted twice annually," ICAI stated.

With this shift, all three levels of the Chartered Accountancy course — Foundation, Intermediate, and Final — will now follow the same exam schedule, ensuring uniformity and additional chances for candidates to appear for their exams.

New Exam Schedule And Increased Opportunities

Going forward, the CA Final exams will take place in January, May, and September each year, matching the schedule already in place for the Foundation and Intermediate levels. This means students will no longer have to wait six months for the next attempt, allowing them to stay on track and complete their qualification more efficiently.

Changes To Post-Qualification Course In Information Systems Audit

Alongside this update, ICAI also announced modifications to the post-qualification course in Information Systems Audit. Previously held twice a year in June and December, the assessment test for this course will now also be conducted three times annually, bettering opportunities for professionals looking to upskill in this domain.
