CBSE 10th Social Science Exam Analysis: ‘Comparatively Easy’ Say Teachers, Mixed Views On Difficulty Level

As per various students and teachers, the CBSE 10th Social Science Exam Paper had a moderate difficulty level and the questions were largely from NCERT.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, conducted the Social Science exam for class 10 today, March 7, 2024. Since the exam has concluded, students might be eager to know the exam analysis. The CBSE Class 10 Social Science paper was held from 10:30 am today, and students were allowed a maximum time limit of three hours to answer all questions in the exam paper. 

This year, over 39 lakh students are reportedly participating in the CBSE Class 10 Board exams. In the CBSE Class 10 Social Science Paper, there was no overall choice. However, an internal choice was provided in a few questions. The Question Paper had 37 questions for a total of 80 marks. The paper was further divided into six different sections: section A, which included MCQs; sections B and C, which included short answer type questions; and sections D and E, which had long answer questions.

According to Priyanshi Bansal and Shivani Singh, educators at Shiv Nadar School, Noida, the paper was manageable, with students being able to complete it within three hours. However, they found the MCQs in Section A a bit difficult.

Contradicting this view, Manpreet Kaur, Head of the Department for Social Science at Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, said that the difficulty level ranged between Moderate to High. She highlighted that there were surprising elements in history, while the Political Science and Economics section had questions about moderate difficulty.

Janav Chanana, a grade 10 student from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, said that the paper was easy and very scoring. Similarly, a student from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, said that the majority of questions were asked from the NCERT. The mixed reactions reflect the nature of the CBSE Class 10 Social Science examination.
