BJP Claims Swati Maliwal Assaulted By Delhi CM's Close Aide, Police Say 'No Written Complaint'

BJP has demanded clarification from the Delhi Chief Minister's office over the claim of alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal.

The BJP has targeted the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of assaulting the party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at the former's residence. BJP leaders Amit Malviya and Kapil Mishra among others said the former Delhi Commission for Women chief was attacked by Kejriwal's former PA Bibhav Kumar and that she called the Delhi Police from the CM's home to report the incident.

Confirming that a PCR call was received regarding an incident of assault at the CM residence, DCP North Manoj Kumar Meena said the Delhi Police no written complaint was lodged by Maliwal. "Around 9:34 AM, a PCR call was received, in which a woman caller said that she was assaulted inside the CM house. A police team reached the spot and responded to the call. After some time, MP Swati Maliwal came to the Civil Lines Police Station but left without giving any complaint. We have not received any written complaint in this case so far."

Earlier, sources in the Delhi Police told ABP News that two PCR calls were received from a number registered under Swati Maliwal's name. The sources said that the calls were made from her own mobile phone number and that a police team immediately reached the Chief Minister's residence.

AAP has not issued any statement on the incident so far. This report will be updated when ABP Live receives a response from the party.

BJP Reacts To Swati Maliwal 'Assault' Allegations

Bharatiya Janata Party's IT cell head Amit Malviya hit out at the AAP party following the assault allegation. "AAP RS MP and former DCW chief Swati Maliwal alleges that Delhi CM’s PA assaulted her. Call made from Delhi CM’s House. Remember, Swati Maliwal had maintained radio silence on Kejriwal’s arrest. She was infact not even in India at that time and didn’t return for a long time," Malviya wrote on X.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra also launched a scathing attack on the AAP, asking it to issue a clarification.

“Did Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav beat up Swati Maliwal? Will the Chief Minister’s office give any clarification? May God grant that the news of beating of a female Rajya Sabha MP in the Chief Minister’s house is false,” he wrote on X.

BJP's media department head and spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor also wrote on X: "According to sources, there was a clash between a close aide of the Chief Minister and a senior female leader at the CM's residence around 9:15 a.m. this morning, possibly leading to a PCR call. It would be better not to spread rumors. Can CMO Delhi provide clarification on this?"

National Secretary and In-charge of BJYM, Tajinder Bagga, posted "I stand with Swati Maliwal."
