Republic Day 2024: Delhi Metro To Begin Services At 4 AM On January 26 — Details

Delhi Metro will begin its services early morning on January 26 for the public to reach the venue of the Republic Day parade.

Republic Day 2024: Ahead of the Republic Day, the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation has announced that the services will begin at 4 AM on January 26 to facilitate the public reach the venue of the parade. The train will run every 30 mins until 6 AM after which the normal timetable of the metros will be followed.

The DMRC on Thursday launched a specially wrapped Metro train to celebrate the 75th Republic Day. The train was formally pressed into service from Mandi House Metro station on the Violet Line in the presence of Minister of Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and DMRC MD Vikas Kumar.

Meghwal also signed on the decorated train to wish commuters on this special occasion.

The Republic Day parade celebrations end with the Beating Retreat, it signifies the day in 1950 when the Indian National Congress declared ‘Poorna Swaraj’, the end of colonial rule in India and the Constitution came to be enforced. 

The grand parade from Karthavya Path (formerly, Rajpath) to India Gate in Delhi, which features march pasts from regiments from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and paramilitary forces. The President hoists the flag at Karthavya Path, following which the parade begins, which is followed by various tableaux that display the culture of India, defence and scientific developments of the country as well.

People who possess bona fide e-invitation cards or e-tickets for the parade will be given coupons when they present their government-issued identity cards at stations. The same coupon will be valid for return journeys from these two stations.

"People who will be in possession of bona fide e-invitation cards or e-tickets for attending the Republic Day ceremony will be issued coupons on production of government-issued identity cards at stations, which will be valid for exits from Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations only to reach Kartavya Path," a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) statement said. 

DMRC advised passengers with invitation cards marked for enclosures 1 to 9 and V1 and V2 should deboard at Udyog Bhawan while those marked for enclosures 10 to 24 and VN are advised to deboard at Central Secretariat.

“Regular announcements will also be made inside the trains to inform passengers about the same so that they deboard at the designated stations in order to reach their enclosures smoothly," the DMRC said.

Online ticket sales for the Republic Day Parade 2024 commenced on January 10, and will remain open until January 25.
