Delhi-NCR Gets Fresh Spell Of Rain After Days Of Flood Fury

A fresh spell of rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday noon.

Light rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday afternoon after days of flooding and rain-related problems. The weather department said, "Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of Delhi ( Narela, Bawana, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Pitampura, Punjabi Bagh, Patel Nagar, Red fort, President House, Rajeev chauk, ITO, India Gate, Akshardham, Lodi Road, Nehru Stadium, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Malviyanagar, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad), NCR ( Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Noida, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh) Sonipat, Palwal, Aurangabad (Haryana) . Light to moderate intensity."

Lajpat Nagar, East of Kailash area in south Delhi, parts of central Delhi including the Delhi Secretariat area, among other areas, received rainfall. The weather department had forecast moderate rain in the national capital on Tuesday. The minimum temperature in the city settled at 27.4 degrees Celsius.

The humidity level in the morning stood at 89 per cent. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, Delhi recorded a low of 26.4 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average, and a high of 34.2 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal.

Seven people were killed in rain-related incidents on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner said in a statement. According to the statement, five persons died by drowning -- two in Ghazipur, and one each in Etawah, Jalaun and Kanpur Dehat -- while one died due to snake-bite in Kanpur Dehat, and another person died "due to excess rainfall".

According to the irrigation department, water level is above the danger level for Ganga in Budaun and Yamuna in Mathura. In UP, 38,378 people in 396 villages are affected due to floods in 10 districts -- Aligarh, GB Nagar, Bijnor, Farukhabad, Ghaziabad, Mathura, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Saharanpur.

Meanwhile, four more deaths in rain-related incidents were reported in Haryana on Monday, taking the death toll to 34.
