NEET Cheating Ring Busted In Delhi, 2 MBBS Students Among 4 Arrested: Police

Four individuals, two of whom were MBBS students, were detained for allegedly facilitating cheating on NEET exams. The accused, acting as medical admission consultants, charged up to Rs 25 lakhs to provide proxy students and alter digital images to fool examiners.

Four individuals, including two MBBS students, were arrested for allegedly operating a cheating ring for NEET exams, police reported on Saturday. The case came to light on May 5 when a student’s biometric data did not match during the NEET exam at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan Mehta Vidyalaya in the Tilak Marg area, police said, as reported by news agency PTI. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahla stated that the two proxy students, Sumit Mandoliya and Krishan Kesarwani, were apprehended at the exam center.

Due to the seriousness of the crime, the case was handed over to the Special Staff of the New Delhi District. A specialised team led by Inspector Sanjay Kumar Gupta was formed to investigate, DCP explained.

In order to create a new digital image to be pasted on the form, they would also combine the images of the original students and the proxy. The officer claimed that this assisted them in deceiving the examiners.

Another officer revealed that Mandoliya and Kesarwani who belong from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, respectively, are MBBS students from different colleges. Mandoliya, from Rajasthan, is a second-year MBBS student in West Bengal, while Kesarwani, from Uttar Pradesh, is a first-year MBBS student in Uttarakhand, he stated.

The police have found four cell phones and a Kia Seltos car. Further police informed that the accused were questioned again to find out if they had taken any prior exams. An inquiry into the situation is in progress.
